Indian Railways Brake Binding Safety Campaign Launched
Indian Railways launches a new safety campaign to prevent smoke and sparks caused by brake binding through strict protocols for Loco Pilots.

To enhance operational security, Indian Railways has initiated a nationwide brake binding safety campaign designed to mitigate the risk of smoke and sparks during transit. This strategic move, coordinated by the Railway Board and the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO), aims to curb incidents where mechanical friction leads to fire-like phenomena on the tracks.
New Operational Mandates for Loco Pilots
The campaign introduces strict protocols that Loco Pilots (LP) and Assistant Loco Pilots (ALP) must follow to ensure smooth and safe train movements. A primary instruction is the mandatory allowance of adequate Brake Release Time.
