HelloRail exists to report on Indian Railways accurately, promptly, and independently. This policy sets out how we gather, verify, and publish news.
We prioritise primary and official sources: Ministry of Railways and PIB releases, Railway Board circulars, zonal railway press notes, RVNL/DFCCIL/IRCTC statements, NTES and enquiry data, and on-the-record statements from railway officials. Where we rely on unofficial or unconfirmed reports (for example, early accident information or leaked schedules), we say so explicitly in the article and update it as official confirmation arrives.
Before publication, factual claims — numbers, dates, locations, route names, casualty figures — are checked against at least one official or otherwise reliable source wherever possible. Breaking news on accidents or disruptions may initially carry incomplete information; we flag this clearly and update the article as more is confirmed, rather than delay publication of information the public needs quickly.
HelloRail is editorially independent. We do not accept payment in exchange for favourable coverage, and sponsored or promotional content (see our Advertising Policy) is always clearly labelled as such and kept separate from news reporting.
Articles carry the name of the reporting/editorial desk responsible. Readers can query any published article through our Contact Us page, and factual errors are corrected under our Corrections & Clarifications Policy.
Our beat is the railway — operations, infrastructure, safety, market movements tied to the sector, and the people who depend on the network. We avoid unrelated political commentary; where a policy decision directly affects rail passengers or operations, we report the decision and its effects, not partisan opinion about it.
